A repository may refer to any of the following:

1. In general, a repository is a location containing stored information and data about users, people, computers, or other important information.

2. With revision control, a repository is the location that stores all revisions of files. These repositories can be either a remote repository (remote repo) that's stored on a different server (e.g., GitHub) or a local repository (local repo) that's on the computer.
