Right may refer to any of the following:

Clockwise or right

1. When describing a direction, right is the opposite of left and is the same direction that a clock turns (clockwise).

2. With a computer keyboard, right is an arrow key that moves the cursor, game character, or another object to the right.

3. When dealing with security, a right is a privilege given or taken away from a user that gives them an ability or takes away an ability. See our permission definition for further information and examples.

Note

Don't confuse "right" and "write" when dealing with security terms. See our write page for further information on this term.

4. In Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets, RIGHT is a function that extracts characters from the far right end of a cell value. For example, if cell A2 contains the word "HOPE," the following formula above would display a value of "E" in the cell with that formula.

=RIGHT(A2,1)
