A set may refer to any of the following:

1. In general, set refers to adjusting or modifying a setting to meet a specific requirement. For example, a computer user may set the destination of files to be saved to the floppy drive; so as files are saved, they are sent to the floppy drive instead of an alternate location.

2. MS-DOS and Windows command line command that allows variable strings to be set, see the set command page for further information on this command.

3. Linux command, see the Linux set command page for further information about this command.
