Slashdot effect

Alternatively called slashdotted, the Slashdot effect describes a web page overwhelmed by Internet traffic after being linked by the tech news site Slashdot.
Other popular sites (e.g., Reddit) have similar effects on smaller sites. For example, when a website gets featured on the Reddit front page, it's called the Reddit hug of death.
Tip
Using Cloudflare reduces or eliminates these problems by moving website's content into the cloud and distributing it from multiple locations.
