Split

Split may refer to any of the following:

1. Taking one whole object and dividing it into two or more sections. For example, a user may take one full window and split that window into two windows allowing two or more files to show at once like the example below.

2. Split is the processes of taking a segment of data and dividing the data into two or more portions.

3. When referring to a chat server, a split is the separation of one or more chat servers.

4. With programming split is a function in many languages to help divide data. For example, you could split a sentence by the spaces to get a word count of the sentence. See our word count definition for further information and an example.
