Split may refer to any of the following:

1. Taking one whole object and dividing it into two or more sections. For example, a user may take one full window and split that window into two windows allowing two or more files to show at once like the example below.

2 When referring to a chat server, a split is the separation of one or more chat servers.

3. Split is the processes of taking a segment of data and dividing the data into two or more portions.
