A status line may refer to any of the following:
1. In general, a status line describes the current state of a person, object or computer program. For example, on Facebook the status line could be a description of how a person is feeling. On a computer, the HTTP error code 404 has a status line message of "Not Found" as the reason for the error.
2. Status line is sometimes used to describe a Windows status bar.
3. In VIM, the status line displays information about the line presently being edited at the bottom of the window.
