Alternatively referred to as a child domain, a subdomain is a domain name with a prefix. For example, "" is the URL for Computer Hope and "www" is the subdomain. If we wanted to have a FQDN for a sub page or another external domain such as our help section, we would create "" as a subdomain.

URL or Internet address

Note: Subdomains are often used for links to frequently accessed portions of the site, allowing users to remember only the domain and not the entire URL.
