Teredo

Updated: 12/31/2022 by Computer Hope

For IPv6 capable hosts, Teredo is a transition technology that provides IPv6 connectivity over IPv4 Internet connections when there are no direct connections to an IPv6 network. Teredo provides this connectivity even from behind network address translation devices, like a router for a home network, using a tunneling protocol.

Note

Teredo is a last resort technology; when working on a native IPv6 network, it should be turned off.
