Ultra-light computer

Updated: 10/17/2017 by Computer Hope

Another term for a portable computer that can be transported from place to place. An ultra-light computer weighs between 2 pounds and 8 pounds and can fit in a briefcase and are powered by either a battery or a transformer pack. Some of the early ultra light computers used a RAM drive instead of a hard drive or diskette drive.

Because all laptop computers are so light today (less than 10 pounds) the term ultra light computer is rarely used to describe a laptop computer.
