URN

Updated: 10/01/2023 by Computer Hope

Short for uniform resource name, URN is defined in RFC 1737 in December 1994 as a persistent (never changing) identifier. Unlike a URL (uniform resource locator), which identifies the location by protocol, domain, directory path, and file name, an URN works like DNS (domain name system) and resolves to a location.
