Voice coil

A voice coil may refer to any of the following:

1. When referring to computer hardware, a voice coil is a motor used to move the access arm within a hard drive.


An SSD has no moving parts or motors.

2. When referring to an audio speaker, a voice coil is a wire inside of a speaker that moves the cone with a magnetic field induced by an electric current. The voice coil adjusts the intensity of the audio signal.
