The Wikimedia Foundation, or WMF, is a nonprofit organization with headquarters in San Francisco, California. It was founded by Jimmy Wales in 2003, to fund Wikipedia and other related projects. As of 2022, the WMF employs over 700 people, with annual revenues of over $155 million derived primarily from public and private donations.
