Windows Aero

Glass effectWindows Aero (Authentic, Energetic, Reflective, and Open) is a GUI (graphical user interface) first introduced with Windows Vista.

Some of the key features of Windows Aero include a new Glass or translucent appearance to each of the windows, as shown in the image to the right. Windows Flip and Flip 3D allows you to visually flip through each of the open windows to display that window, instead of a simple icon like previous versions of Windows. When a window is minimized, it will visually shrink to the taskbar, where it is represented as an icon. Aero also provides support for higher DPI.

Tip: To use the Flip 3D option, press the Windows key+Tab to switch between open windows in a 3D mode.

Note: Windows 8 no longer supports the Flip 3D option. When pressing the Windows key + Tab, it will switch between open Apps in the Switcher.
