Zynga develops games for various platforms, including mobile phones, like Apple iPhones and Android phones, and on websites like Zynga.com, Facebook, and Google+. Founded in July 2007, Zynga had revenues of $1.16 billion in 2011 and over 265 million monthly active users of their many video games by January 2013. The CEO, Mark Pincus named Zynga after an American bulldog, Zinga, that he used to have.

Zynga's most successful game, Farmville, was launched in June 2009 on Facebook. At it's peak, Farmville had 10 million daily active users. Zynga launched multiple additional games on Facebook, including FarmVille 2, Texas Holdem Poker (known as Zynga Poker) and ChefVille. Much of Zynga's revenue, as much as 80%, comes from games on Facebook, but that contract with Facebook ended on March 31, 2013. In general, Zynga's top three games were FarmVille, FrontierVille, and CityVille, which generated about 57% of Zynga's online game revenue.

Take-Two Interactive completed the purchase of Zynga for $12.7 billion in May 2022.
