Computer-related contributions

  • Danish programmer with Canadian citizenship best known as the creator of the PHP scripting language. He authored the first two versions.
  • Contributed to the Apache HTTP Server and he added the LIMIT clause to the MYSQL DBMS. The LIMIT clause was later adapted by other DBMS, including MySQL.

Significant publications

  • Programming PHP (2013).

Honors and awards

  • Named to the MIT Technology Review TR100 as one of the top 100 innovators in the world under the age of 35 (2003).
