Virus information

08/11/2003 - The Blaster worm also known as mblast, lovesan, W32.Blaster.Worm, Worm_mblast.a, and Win32.Posa.worm. The blaster worm is a software worm designed to locate and exploit Microsoft Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 through open RPC (remote procedure call) ports TCP (transmission control protocol) port 135.

Note

Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me users are not effected by this worm.

Symptoms

Computers infected with this worm may experience the following symptoms:

  1. Computer automatically rebooting every five minutes.
  2. Mblast.exe is on the machine or seen as a TSR (terminate-and-stay-resident).
  3. Computer freezing after first few minutes of booting.
  4. Computer causing an unexpected errors after first few minutes after booting.
