Displays the volume information about the designated drive.


The vol command is an internal command that is available in the below Microsoft operating systems.

Vol syntax

Displays the disk volume label and serial number, if they exist.

VOL [drive:]

Vol examples

vol c:

Display the volume of drive c: as shown in the example below.

Volume in drive C has no label.
Volume Serial Number is 1C24-AB20
