    Italian windows xp
    « on: August 07, 2014, 05:45:47 AM »
    Hi everyone.
I'll try to keep this short... Okay, so I bought a netbook on ebay (new) from this Italian guy. It's a dell inspiron mini 1012. Anyways, everything's working fine but it has windows xp installed. The main problem is that it's in Italian language and I can't change it. I read that you can't change the language and need to buy a new windows. Is that true? So what should I do? If I need to buy a new windows, I can't buy xp anymore right? So how do I buy/download win7 and how do I install it? Please help me, I look forward to your answers!

You should be able to change it by going to Control Panel, Regional and Language options. I changed one a few weeks ago from French to English.

    •   To open Regional and Language Options, click Start, click Control Panel, click Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options, and then click Regional and Language Options.
    •   This option is only available in the Windows Multilingual User Interface Pack. If you are interested in this...

      Dictation.
Here on this forum members are forbidden to discuss any kind of hacking or patching that would encourage people to violate the copyrights of Microsoft or any other software publisher.
Basically, the problem here is you are dealing with an operating system that Microsoft no longer wishes to actively support, but they still claim their copyright. They have good reason to do that. Their business plan is to have people buy new software that the company can readily support. Just think about it, if they had the support every piece of software that ever produced. The workload would be unbearable. At the present time, Microsoft is supporting about four or five operating systems. If you include the systems that are used on servers.
If you really want to continue using Windows XP, you need to obtain an English version that will work on the computer, and you need to have a product key that will validate the Windows XP with Microsoft validation service.
One method would be to go to garage sales and thrift shops and use stores and look for an old computer that has the Windows XP certificate of authority on the underside or backside of the case. Sometimes you can pick up very old computers for slowest $25 and received with it. The certificate of authority. That might be a possible solution to pick up a cheap, legal copy in English.
If the copy you have is not the multi-language version sold in Europe, it will be near impossible to change it over to the English. Instead, you have to obtain an English version and install it on the computer you have.
Now if you wish to buy a real legal Windows XP CD made by Microsoft, expect to pay around $60 up to $80 for the CD with the product key number. You need both.
The other alternative would be to contact a friend who works in IT organization or a service organization and ask them for help. Was some individual might be able to do for you , individually, would be something that would not be considered legal here on this forum. That this is much as I can say about the matter
