    Not loading some webpages completely
    « on: September 08, 2014, 04:29:57 PM »
Lately I have had problems with some webpages not loading completely and in a few cases not at all. I use firefox 29.0.1. But the same issue is on IE8.
I have Noscript on FF but disabling it makes no difference.
I disabled Avast, also no difference.
I disabled Spybot S&D, also no difference.
I have a router, no websites blocked on it.
I use Adblock and have sent them a report. But disabling made no difference.

Here's an example (not mine) :
    https://support.cdn.mozilla.net/media/uploads/images/2013-05-06-06-27-09-a78c2b.png
from this forum "issues with certain webpages not loading correctly" at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/958599
I have tried many of the suggestions in this forum. Like clearing the cache, ipconfig /flushdns, clearing cookies, Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
    Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R". Command+Shift+R.

Example of a webpage that load like this: Imdb.com, which loads the home page, but once I go to  an article on a film the pages load like the example above.
Ex. of a website that does not load at all: cnet.com. I get the error message "401 The web site is blocked by administrator"

Yes, I have also seen that.
    No preemptive remedy found.
Hitting  F5 will reload the page.

Yes, F5 is the normal way to refresh a page. I listed some other ways above.
But there must be some solution.  :'(

Another problem is I cannot sign into my Google account (especially in FF private window). I usually get the "you must allow cookies" message, even though I do allow cookies.

Have you tried removing completely Adblock? Spybot is not recommended nowadays, replace it with free Spywareblaster instead. Check for Adwares and PUP using Adwcleaner - Scan then choose Delete next. Use also Free Malwarebytes scanner then run a quick scan only after updating the program. Make sure also that your browsers are up to date.

Yes I removed Adblock, which did nothing to solve my problem.

I tried using Adwcleaner but never again because it somehow interferes with Lenovo's security system on the laptop. It auto shutoff when i ran Adw.
You may say Spybot is not recommended, but I've been using it a long time and it's changed a lot over the years.
Spywareblaster I also use. But lately all it finds is a couple of cookies.

Have you checked your connection speeds ? ?

          I use speedtest.net...

I check connection speeds once in a while. I tried to use Speedtest, but when i tried installing Flash player (required to run Speedtest), I got the error message from Adobe "Unable to load metafile". Yet another problem.

I searched for a solution to the Adobe "Unable to load metafile". I found another download link for it. Apparently it's a common issue.
But after installing flash player, the Speedtest did not work because I was required to install flash again, and got the same error message.
But the pingtest did, except for the packet loss section.

Would any of these firefox settings (in Troubleshooting) be causing security related issues that could cause the problems I am having?

JavaScript and java are 2 different things...
The fact that you cannot install/update Java tells me your infected...

And so do Windows and antiviruses which seems spybot has been more of a conflict, false positive detection and slows down the system.

Spybot and Spywareblaster has a 50/50 chance of usage and recommendations nowadays but I would prefer the feature of Spywareblaster over Spybot protection.

I was able to install Java. My Java security setting level is Medium (recommended).  I tried to edit the Exception site list, to allow one of the sites that is (401) blocked,  but I cannot see what the list contains, and when I thought I had added the exception, I could not see it on the page. Maybe Java is blocking their own form!

Some pages that do not load, completely, such as reddit.com, are missing something that would allow me to comment on a topic, for example. I can sometimes type in the comment box, sometimes not. If I can type in the box, then when I finish the comment and hit post, or save, or the enter key, nothing happens. But I can see in the lower right corner of my PC screen, "javascript:void(0)". What does this mean? Searching online for this I get lots of results that I cannot understand, in code.
Other times the save button appears to work because another page opens, but it says something like "Oops! there seems to be nothing here", or "page not found
the page you requested does not exist."
And because of this problem I cannot send a message to reddit to ask for a solution.
