Puzzled over Disc drive on laptop.
    « on: August 19, 2015, 05:38:36 AM »
    Hi all!!
I'm the proud new owner of an MSI GT70 2QD DOMINATOR.
But I'm afraid that's about all I know, I fear I've bit off more than I can chew! :(

I bought it primarily for gaming and specifically to allow me to game whilst at work-at sea.

Unfortunately it just seems to devour whichever game discs I feed it and they are never to be seen again.

There is no reaction from the drive other than a few whines,a few whizzes----------then silence, the game has ceased to be!

It is nowhere to be found and only traces of programmes exist on files.

There doesn't seem to be a problem with downloading games from Steam and then running them but the disc drive just doesn't seem to want to play, does it need working on or is it knackered?

It's important that I can use the drive because where I need to take the laptop there is no internet.

Please help me as there appears to be smoke coming out of my ears! ;D

Is it a brand new device, and are these factory-pressed disks?

Sounds like CD/DVD is not autorunning.
