How to Install XP on a HP Pavilion dv3525ef
    « on: June 10, 2010, 10:58:06 AM »
    Hello guys,

I am battling to install XP either sp2 or sp3 on a HP Pavilion dv3525ef, i tried going to BIOS to disable SATA mode, unfortunately it is not listed there. I goggled for this problem and most suggestions is to use  a USB floopy which i don't have, i am thinking of downgrading the BIOS for this Notebook but i don't get it on HP website. If anyone managed to install XP on this kind of notebook please help.
I have been the all day struggling and the only thing i get is a BSD.

    Please help.

Do you have the sata drivers? If not, that's what you need. You can either integrate them into the OS using a program line nlite (slipstreaming) or burn them to cd and switch cds when the system asks if you have sata drivers.

You CANNOT downgrade a bios and can cause real problems if you try. Anyway, assuming the issue is indeed the sata drivers, the bios has nothing to do with your problem. You didn't say what the blue screen error is, so this is partially conjecture on my part.

      Thanks for your quick reply

      The BSD error is 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034)

I am planning to use the Intel SATA AHCI Controller Driver, SoftPaq SP32478.exe, which i  Downloaded from hp.

Do i have to burn these files on the CD as Bootable or just normal Data files?

I already tried slipstreaming with nLite still no luck, so i will try burning it as per your suggestion.

      Any more input is welcomed.
      Thanks

      Normal data files
And I'm surprised about nlite -- I've slipstreamed sata drivers into sp3 a couple of times with no problem.

Perhaps i am using the wrong SATA drivers for this Laptop while slipstreaming in nLite.

I copied the SATA drivers files to a CD, booted from xp cd pressed F6, pressed S and i got the following error.
Setup could not find a floopy drive on your disk.
              * Press ESC to cancel loading OEM drivers
              * F3 to quit setup

Like i said i dont have a a USB Floopy drive.

        Any idea?

I'm assuming when you pressed S the cd with the drivers was in the cd drive, yes? If so, we're back to nlite.

Well if thats is the solution, then i guess we are back on nLite.
