Desktop Icons won't show up!!! I really tried many fixes !! :(

Hi,

   So the problem is that on Windows XP Home Edition, I can't get the desktop icons!

First, I went on "Manage Desktop Icons" on properties, but My computer, My documents, Recycle bin are all checked.
I clicked on Restore Defaults. Unchecked, checked again... didn't solve the problem.

I thought maybe they are "Hidden"
I changed the folder VIEW properties, and checked "Show hidden Files"... then Clicked on Restore Defaults, and checked again SHOW HIDDEN FILES
Nothing happens...

I went in Documents and settings, and in the user name folder... then Desktop... and there is icons right there!
Some folders, pictures, ... etc

So normally the desktop should have some icons on the desktop !

Changed the wallpaper, and put it on NONE ... nothing change... i put a regular Windows picture...

I checked the graphic drivers... and tells me that I have the good drivers installed


what's wrong?
I made some research... but everything I find so far don't solve the issue... 

Unlike 90% of webpages I find... I have the Taskbar, and the Start button on the bottom, and everything works fine, except the desktop icons.

If I create a new Folder, or Text document... nothing shows up... and when I go on the DESKTOP folder in Documents and settings, I can find "New Folder" ... "New Text Document" ... right there...

If you want to see the desktop icons, you have to turn them on.

I checked so many settings !!! but didn't check that one !
