    « on: June 22, 2012, 03:59:18 AM »
    Hy

I bought PC with Italian Windows XP (SP3).
Now I cannot boot from a CD

When I boot from a CD I get the mesage CDBOOT: Couldn't find NTLDR
Then I started Recovery Console. When I tray to copy ntldr file from CD into root directory C: I get the mesage:
The system cannot find the file specified.
    Please help me.

Wat are you trying to do? Do you want to install English XP over the Italian? Do you have a legal version of Windows XP
    Please supply details.
    What kind of computer?
Which version of Windows? (Retail, OEM or upgrade.)

Trying to copy NTLDR is not the right procedure for Windows XP.

The CD you have may be damaged or unreliable.

I have desktop AMD 1.4 Ghz, double Hard disc(40&80Gb). Also I have legal copy of XP (SP2 ).
I used it a many times but it is not damaged.
I my opinion I pick up a virus. PC work to slow. I want to format disc and delete everything.
When I boot from CD I get the mesage: CDBOOT: Couldn't find ntldr.
So I instaled Recovery Console to restore missing files. When I tray to copy ntldr file from CD drive into C: root directory I get the mesage:
The system cannot find the file specified.
      Please help me.
If you need more information please tell me. :-[

How are you trying to boot from the cd, have you checked bios to ensure that the first boot device is the correct optical device you are using?

One good deed is worth more than a year of good intentions.

Yes, I checked. The first boot device in bios is a optical device (CDROM).
Also, optical device cannot recognize a lot of files from CD Windows XP.
When I explore CD there missing a many files. Also missing ntldr file.
But CD is not damaged, I checked it on another PC.
On another PC I can see all files from CD including ntldr file.
So I made a copy of ntldr file from another PC on my USB and paste it in my PC (into root C:).
Again nothing happened. Again I get same message: CDBOOT: Couldn't find ntldr.
In my opinion it could be virus.

                  Had same problem.

Changed sata behaviour to 'compatible' in BIOS.
Then with same cd suddenly NTLDR was there!?

Don't know why, but it worked.
