Your question is unclear. What do you mean you lost your USB drive?

Install the usb driver to solve this problem.

Just updated a couple of drivers.    Will see how it is much later today, as so weary now.  Thank you.  Anna Ruth

A spammer - Oh, my!  Anyway, I did this:

Solution 1 – Reinstall device drivers
Download the latest drivers for your USB device and install it. If there are no new drivers available just continue with the next step.
Open Device Manager. You can do that by pressing Windows Key + X and choosing Device Manager from the list.
Locate the device driver and right click it.

Did not see Device Driver

Choose Uninstall to remove the driver.
Restart your computer.
Solution 2 – Change Power Management settings for USB Controller
Open Device Manager.
Find Universal Serial Bus controllers section and expand it.
Right click each driver named USB Root Hub and select Properties.
Go to Power Management tab.
Make sure that Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is not checked. If it’s checked  it. uncheckClick
WE RECOMMEND: Click to free scan your PC for malware & improve performance
OK to save the changes.
Repeat the process for all USB Root Hub drivers.
Restart your computer.
Solution 3 – Uninstall the USB Controller
Open the Device Manager.
Find Universal Serial Bus controllers and expand it.
Right click the first driver in the Universal Serial Bus section and click Uninstall.
Repeat the process for all drivers in the Universal Serial Bus section.
Restart your computer.

After second Uninstall, computer froze.

Solution 4 – Turn off fast startup
Some users report that Windows 10 is booting too quickly and therefore there’s not enough time for external devices to be detected before the system boots. Solution is to disable fast startup, and you can do so by following these steps:

Open Control Panel and choose Power Options.
On the sidebar on the left click Choose what the power buttons do.
Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
Under the Shutdown settings find the Turn on fast startup and uncheck it.  Now click Save changes and you’re done.

Would not let me uncheck fast startup

If drivers are not my problem, what is the problem?  A new Windows 10 reinstall by a computer repair place should not be doing this.  Thank you for your help.   Anna Ruth  P.S.  The Memory Stick for USB disappeared.

It was the very first reply to this post.

Your question is unclear. What do you mean you lost your USB drive?

You need to explain further. Otherwise the only reasonable advice is to check the last place you left it.

This Laptop is weird!  As I was trying to answer a few minutes ago the screen went to another place!   Is this the first question?   Re: USB DRIVE

This is dictation.
It is not uncommon for windows to forget the USB device. In some cases it is a mechanical problem related to the condition of the cable or the receptacle on the panel of your computer. If that is the case, it would happen with all USB devices and not just some.
However, in a few cases the USB driver may have been destroyed or uninstalled. That could happen because of some other program decided that the driver was inappropriate and had it removed.
Nevertheless, the above are not the most often reported cases of where Windows appears to forget the USB device. Here are a number of links that explains different possibilities about how and why Windows stops recognizing the USB device that had been working properly an earlier time.

That may be of some help.
