Device and Drives
« on: March 07, 2017, 09:11:55 PM »
I have Windows 10 and in the Device and Drives I have three,  and among them the Floppy Disk Drive (A:).  When I click on it, it tells me to insert a disk, but there is a disk inserted, a Memorex DVD-R.  What can I do so I can read what is in the disk?   Thank you.  Anna Ruth

Look here:
https://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-PA2669U-External-Floppy-Drive/dp/B001158PG4
The Toshiba floppy drive is external.

A DVD-R is not floppy. It is very stiff.
Floppy drives require Floppy disks.   :P

Your post doesn't make sense.  A Memorex DVD-R is an optical disc, not a floppy disk.  And, you mentioned the Floppy Disk Drive (A:), which does not accommodate DVD, or optical, discs.

How many drives do you see when you open File Explorer and click in This PC?

By tradition the A: is reserved for a floppy disc but any other.
The floppy disc is in a square plastic  envelope. Colons may vary.

Boy, am I confused!  Now I have a  Memorex high speed in, a CD-RW,  in and it does the same.
In This PC it shows, under Devices and Drives(3):  Local Disk (C:), 3ECOVERY (D:) and DVD RW Drive (E:).  When I bought the envelopes that these were in, they showed Disk.  I no longer have the envelopes.

I do not see This PC in File Explorer.  There are a bunch of Frequent Folders and Recent Files.
