Master restore error code?
« on: November 25, 2007, 01:14:39 PM »
Hi All,
I have started to do a reboot with the 3 home made master discs.
Disc 1 has loaded ok.
Disc 2 has stopped near the finish and  states;
Device error code: 7696
DOS error code : 11
Read fault.

Disc 2 has been scratched on the top taken some of the silver coating off, possibly this is the cause.
Can I download a master disc from the PB website
.For free
.On to a pc that is not the one I am trying to boot
. or another site

:Or just some info would be helpful.

Cheers

Dusty

Damage to the reflective coating would cause the errors posted.

Suggest you Google for Packard Bell, out of the 1720k hits there might be one with a solution to your problem.   Also, EBay might be a source of the master disks.

However, below is an extract from this link.

"Device Error Code 7696 Dos Error Code 11

This came up when remastering a Club 40 during the "Copying files" phase. This is a problem with the some of the original Master CDs, and Boot Floppy Diskettes. To resolve this problem order the following replacement media:

    * 6733880300 - Floppy Boot Diskette
    * 6733860201 - Master CD1
    * 6733870201 - Master CD2"

Good luck.

One good deed is worth more than a year of good intentions.
