    Font folder won't open
    « on: September 20, 2009, 02:12:29 PM »
Hi, I can't get my fonts folder to open. It worked just the other day, now it won't do anything. All the other folders around it will open, just not that one. I am running Windows XP Professional. Any suggestions? Thanks so much for your time.

What am I using to open it with? I'm just going to Start, Control Panel, Fonts. When I click on it, nothing happens. I'm trying to get into it to install some new fonts.

Could be you have already been doing things to the font folder and have a corrupted font in that folder.

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to \Windows\Fonts. What happens when you try to open the folder?

Do you mean type that in the address bar? I did, and I it says in the frame, "Invalid Syntax Error" and the page says "The page cannot be displayed".

Yes I've Googled the problem already. I don't get an error message, it just won't open when I click on it. I haven't done anything weird to it, I just installed a couple of fonts with the standard steps.

          Start/Programs/Accessories/Windows Explorer....
Right clik on it and select create shortcut and drag it to the Desktop....

Everyone should have this on the Desktop and i never understood why it wasn't there by default.

Okay, I think I did what you instructed, but it still won't open up.

What happens when you double click on the folder in Windows Explorer?

Right click and go into properties. Tell us what it says in each page.

I don't  know if I'm doing this right.  ??? The only way I can actually find the Fonts folder while in the Windows Explorer (from the Start, Accessories, Windows Explorer, from which I made a shortcut to it on the desktop) is to hit the search button and look for "Fonts" under "My Computer". If I actually go into My Computer directly from Windows Explorer, I can't locate the file.

Anyway, when I right-click on the folder from the search results screen, all I get it "Open Containing Folder" (which opens into Control Panel--can't get into the Fonts from there), Open (it doesn't), Explore (gives me a view of my Desktop files), Create Shortcut.

I haven't a clue what the heck is going on. Thanks everyone for trying to figure it out. I really appreciate it!
