Short for Automatic Number Identification, ANI is
a system developed by AT&T that
is similar to Caller ID that provides the phone number of the
person calling a number as well as the number they dialed.
Because this system is not Caller ID this information could
still be obtained even if a caller ID block is enabled on the
phone.
