DOC may refer to any of the following:
1. In general, doc is shorthand for a word document.
2. In computing, .doc is a file extension associated with WordPad and other word processing programs. Microsoft Word is an example of a word processor used to view .doc files.

Newer versions of Microsoft Word default to the .docx file extension.
