Short for InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards, the INCITS was known as Accredited Standards Committee from 1961 - 1996. Today, the INCITS operates under the rules approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and helps produce market-driven, voluntary consensus standards.
