Shorthand for Time Division Multiple Access, TDMA is a technique used in telecommunications to share a distribution resource. It does so by dividing the medium into time slots when each connected device is allotted a window to transmit data.

Usually, TDMA pertains to a radio frequency channel, but can include a physical wire utilized by multiple users. For mobile communications, TDMA was used with 2G networks, like GSM (Global System for Mobile communication), but now mostly finds use with satellite systems.
