The WELL
A website that started in February 1985 by Stewart Brand and Larry Brilliant that many credit as being the birthplace of the online community movement and today continues to be one of the most influential online communities. The WELL started first as a BBS and later became the website it is today in the early 1990s. In August 2005 The WELL was purchased by the Salon Media Group.
