    Hard disk clicks

    When a hard disk clicks does it men it has crashed or is just the electronics that are gone? Disk is Hitachi Deskstar 80GB. Bios doesn't recognise that it's there.

    This is known commonly as the "clik of death" and means in most cases the drive has failed.

      If I change the disk electronics is the data likely to be still there?

      I've had success doing this...however i'd put the odds at about 1 in 12.
