Overheating

Hi there, I have a Compaq Presario F5oo and I was wondering if anyone can explain to me how I check if the fans are working properly. It does seem hot, shuts down unexpectedly and is loud. Slowness obviously is an issue as well. ???

DLoad and install SpeedFan...it will report your temps.

Do you hold the computer on your lap or have it sitting on a hard surface?  Has it always done this?  If not, has it gotten gradually worse or is it a sudden problem?

If you open Task Manager, how many processes do you see running?  Are any of them consuming a high percentage of CPU resources?

Have you ever cleaned the cooling fan and ventilation vents?

Are you using a 'graphics intensive' programme when this happens? High intensive graphics tend to overheat the laptop.

I agree with soybean it's probably a temp issue. If you are not comfortable cleaning out the inerds then don't. Get a professional to do it
