    Email problem/query
    « on: February 23, 2010, 05:11:11 AM »
A couple of days ago I posted the query quoted below in the forum's software section by mistake - I think it should have been in this section.  Apologies for this.

    Quote
I use AOL Mail email service.

Last Thursday I received several automated message acknowledgements for email that I had not sent, and also some undelivered mail reports from, I presume, the AOL mail server.

Apparently the alleged messages were "no subject" and I think addressed to around 25 email addresses, all of which were in my Contacts list - the message itself consisted only of a list of these addresses - nothing more. No comeback in the couple of days since then.

I am wondering how such a thing could happen - some kind of hacking into my emails?  It seems rather pointless.

I ran scans - Avira AV, SuperAntispyware, Malwarebyte, Secunia etc - all clear.

    Comments and suggestions appreciated.

      evilfantasy - thanks for reply.
Did you notice my further post (about an hour ago) "I think I have a virus" ?

I should have given more details: I have 2 PCs - No.1 Vista Home Premium SP2 -  No.2 XP SP3 - presumably you will need info from both, separately.

On both I have Avira antivirus, Malwarebytes antimalware, SuperAntispyware, Secunia, WinPatrol, all free versions, and the appropriate Windows Firewall.  CCleaner run regularly.

I'll send logs asap.  Please let me know if any other info required.
