To begin with, I will start by saying that I cannot even get into my computer.  At the moment I am using my sisters.  Every time I start the computer after the screen with the Dell logo and the loading bar, it goes straight to a black screen saying something to the effect of:  There are no bootable devices.  Press F1 to retry, F2 to access the setup menu, and F5 to run diagnostics.

Before this started happening I had a virus on my computer for a couple days that was the exact same as the one gskinner9 had:

Every 5-10 seconds a "Security Warning" box will pop up on my screen.  The box says "Application cannot be executed. The file wuauclt.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?".  This is often followed by "Antivirus softwear alert" at the bottom right of my screen.  Sometimes websites like "*censored*.org" or a *censored* website will pop up on occasion.

I'm hoping that my computer is salvageable, and thanks for any help.

    Welcome to CH.

You are going to need to try a Rescue CD or USB. Let me know how that goes.

      I tried both of them.

For the first, everything loaded, but the cursor wouldn't work once it was at the rescue cd loaded.

For the second, it loaded and I ran the scan.  It found one infected file which was deleted, but the same message comes up when I start the computer.  "No bootable device, press F1, etc..."

You will need to post in the Windows XP forum. http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/board,50.0.html

Tell them about the "No bootable device, press F1, etc..." and get some suggestions on what to do next.
