Screen goes blank
« on: March 01, 2010, 01:13:23 PM »
I was on my Laptop and the screen suddenly went blank. I noticed it was still running so I rebooted and the screen came up with columns of dots when I went to sign in (windows Xp) it went blank again. I can log on in safe mode and the screen after some time will clear up (no vertical dots) but when I reboot out of safe mode it does the same thing all over again. I hooked up an external monitor and it did the same thing. Can anyone explain this?

It's most likely, a problem with the video driver. The fact that safe mode works is the tell tale sign of a driver problem. Safe mode loads a very basic video driver. Did you update your video driver recently?
