USB Ports not working in Hi-Speed Configuration
    « on: March 04, 2010, 01:09:25 AM »
I am using Windows XP SP2 and Ubuntu 9.04 on a P4 system with intel d845 gvsr mother board. I recently formatted and re-installed my OS. Since then, if I configure my USB ports in Hi-Speed Configuration, the system is not detecting any usb device that is plugged in. But when I configure them as Full-Speed ports by changing the settings in the BIOS, all plugged-in usb devices are being detected but working quite slowly. I tried re-installing the USB 2.0 device drivers but to no avail.

And also when ever i try to connect to internet using a USB connected modem, the internet connection is automatically getting terminated abruptly after 5-10mins from the time i connect. In order to reconnect, I have to restart my PC to reset the ports and then connect again. If I do not restart, it says that the modem in already in use and does not connect even though the connection is terminated.

The status in "Network Connections" in windows also shows as connected and am not able to neither disconnect nor delete the connection from there also until I restart my PC.

But I am able to access data in my Pen-Drives without any loss of data but at a greatly reduced speeds.

This is proving to be a very big hindrance to my work. Please help me out.

Go to the following link, download and install the chipset driver...

There's a few more drivers for that Intel® Desktop Board D845GVSR board, aside from the "chipset" driver; two of which appear to apply to USB 2.0 (although they seem old -  4/8/2002):

           a.  USB: USB 2.0 [USB2.0.EXE]
           b.  USB QFE for USB 2.0 Support [USBXPFIX.EXE]
