What sort of Windows 2000 CD do you have? Is it a full Win 2000 CD or an upgrade?

Do you have a Win 2000 CD with the latest service pack?

Before doing any further work on the drive it would be advisable to safeguard your data by burning it to CDRs.

You can do this using KNOPPIX as the KNOPPIX OS can be run from the CD-ROM drive and comes complete with its own burning program.
