I have no new hardware device plugged into any USB port.  I did recently add a Belkin enhanced wireless router to create a wireless network to allow my daughter's laptop internet access down the hall.  I also recently borrowed a hand held digital recorder from a friend. I had to download a program to allow me to transfer a file from the recorder to my computer.  I then uninstalled the program - it was a one time usage.  My son got an iPod shuffle which I recently put some music on.  So there have been various new things plugged into the computer, however, every time I start the computer up, it I get the Newfound Hardware Wizard pop-up.  Is there a way to get rid of this?

Did you also look while viewing "hidden devices" in device manager?

If not open it and select View -> Show hidden devices and look at  it again
