Static IP
« on: March 07, 2010, 02:29:46 AM »
I have a static IP address and have tried EVERYTHING to change my IP. Nothing works!

Is it possible to change a static IP without contacting the ISP.
Whether it be via program or long method, all help is appreciated.

Why are you trying to change your IP address?

By default its set to dynamic (automatic) Did you change it to static yourself?

Are you sure you're assigning an address appropriate for the subnet mask being used?

If the IP address you are trying to change is "private", then you CAN change it, but you have no control over the "public" IP address assigned to you by your ISP..

Since you mentioned your ISP then I assume that you are referring to your public ip that your isp assigned to you. If so, the simple answer is no. It's called static for a reason and the only way you are going to change it is by contacting your isp. There is no loophole. Obviously you've done something wrong with your ip or you've gotten banned from a site and don't want to tell your isp. The only "method" you can try is to use a proxy server.
