Cant Delete Partition (or create)

Hiya i need to format my c drive to re-install windows xp i boot of the disk then press ENTER then F8 then it comes to the partition screen i press D and nothing happens i tried pressing C and nothing happens.
Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks.

Did you click on the drive you want to delete to highlight it before pressing D?

If it still won't delete try using this DELPART BOOTDISK

The Windows XP installation CD offers you the option of deleting or reformatting a partition.  Try putting the CD in the optical drive and restarting the computer.  If you see the words "Press any key to boot to the CD..." press the spacebar.
