Windows xp keeps reloading over and over on startup
    « on: May 24, 2010, 07:08:24 PM »
I picked up a virus/malware this am . I ran a AVG scan and left for work when I got home it showed about 10+ hits. I asked it to deleat all infections ..It then wanted a reboot -I wanted to see what was infecting me so I told it to wait--I checked the log and Hit the reboot button on the computer[bad thing I guess]
anyway when it came up it just keeps looping into a reload mode and I cant break into it !
I cant access safe mode BUT I can get a curser if I go to windows instead of XP home.  Is it possible to break into the thing by access theough the back door?
Is it possible to load a repair disc from This toshiba lap top VISTA and run the disc on the xp machine??[AVG-Malwarebytes etc]
Like many other posters Im angry enough to plop in the REload disc and wipe the thing out--If I could find the disc-GRrrr!

XP service pak 2 about 5 years old
I know your busy But thanks in advance--Randy

      Thank you Jay!
I will study the info you have sent me.

I called the man who reloaded my puter and he gave me a code to type into Dos that allows me to go in the [back  door] I did this and Im In YYEEaaay.
I reload all my work and be on the road to recovery in an hour .

What I found is that when he reloaded this machine he partitioned the HD and has a recovery system linked to it so if[when] a virus get you you can reload the system and totally wipe out the First parttition. all my photos and favorits stay put..
        Neat feature --
Thank you guys for all you do saving us noobs from the world of the parisites who make virus.
Now lets lobby congress to get them to go after the bad guys .
      again Thank you   Randy
