    dbghelp file problems..... suspect virus.
    « on: May 25, 2010, 12:42:39 AM »
    Hi all,

Recently my WMP11 started throwing an error upon start-up: Not installed properly - reinstalling may fix the problem

Tried to reinstall from MS, but halsway through process got another error: dbghelp.dll not found - reinstalling program may fix issue (which it doesn't)

did some checking and I think the .dll file in the system32 folder is wankered - can't replace / delete it with the dbghelp.dll from dllcache section (which apperas to be normal) as it gives the error: data error (cyclic redundancy)

also, right clicking the .dll file in system32 takes aaaaaaagggggeeesss to open and does not display the same properties info as the file in dllcache (much less - only one general tab)

have run malwarebytes - says all clear
have run hijack this, but I wouldn't know what to look for

guys on the chat page said try here.... so.... any thoughts?

    Cheers,
    McB

    Dr Jay

        DragonMaster Jay,

Combofix would not run on my machine. It seemed to get caught in a error loop whereby the message was something along the lines of: Windows can not access the specified path, drive or file.

        Any suggestions?

        Dr Jay

        RKill by Grinler
        Link #1
        Link #2
        Link #3
        • Download Link #1.
        • Save it to your Desktop.
        • Double click the RKill desktop icon.
If you are using Vista please right click and run as Admin!
        • A black screen will briefly flash indicating a successful run.
        • If this does not occur please delete that application and download Link #2.
        • Continue process until the tool runs.
        • If the tool does not run from any of the links tell me about it.
This only kills the active infection, the actual infection will not be gone.

        Then, try ComboFix again, please.

          Hi DragonMaster,

sorry for the length between posts, but none of the apps in thelinks worked. I double clicked, but nothing happened.
