Services like moviepro.net have taken copy protected DVDs and removed the copy protection. Legally, it's kind of a gray area. The movie studios, and many copyright lawyers consider sites like that illegal. Others argue that the old fair use laws that were designed around cassette tapes and VCR's still apply, as long as copying isn't done for profit and only for personal use.
The courts are going to have to decide which is right.
