computer slows to a stop

Computer works fine when I turn it on but in just a few minutes I can't do anything it is so slow please help and thanks

You need to provide a LOT more info. Start with - what led up to this (what happened since the last time the system worked properly - new hw, sw, virus, error, etc)?

Have you run a full scan with both your av AND with Malware Bytes?

What type of system is it? How much ram? At exactly what point does it freeze? Have you tried safe mode?

Everything you can think of that may be helpful.

sorry new to this I have scanned with 2 anti-virus tools and it says no virus the computer is a campac with vista

Two anti-virus programs can be bad. That may be your problem. What are the names of these two programs?
Also, when was the last time you blew the dust out of your computer with a can of compressed air?
