    Standby Setting

    Hello:

I am trying to enable standby mode but no success.  I'm using xp, a ps/2 keyboard and a usb wireless mouse.  In bios, I have ps/2 enabled for the keyboard and usb enabled for the mouse.  in power options I've tried different standby time intervals but nothing has worked.  The monitor and hard drive are set to turn off never.  Is there something I'm missing?

I'm not a big fan of either Standby or Hibernate. While they work fine for some folks, they either don't work properly or cause problems for many others. My personal choice is to set the display and HD to power down after a defined period of inactivity. It always works as advertised.

Sure. Sorry it doesn't actually answer your question, but I think you'll be happier this way in the long run.

I'll have to go along 100% with what Allan said...
      As stated it's not a solution...just don't use it.

Yeah, too bad you can't get the fans shut off that way though.
