    « on: March 28, 2010, 10:05:01 AM »
I have a 586 Compaq Prosignia 300, thing is that I have several little issue with this machine.  Thing is that first I am attempting to add a harddrive to it.  Its a Western Digital probably only a few mb's.  I have it connected useing an ide card out of a gateway 2000 486.  Thing being I dont know what I really an doing.  I probably wont be able to get to this issue for a while an the unit isnt with me.

The IDE card probably requires drivers...have you installed them ? ?
How is the drive jumpered ? ?

    You haven't provided much info....

sorry, its hard to recall right off.  I dont think, I need a driver but course from what I have of the 486.  There isnt any driver with it.  I think its set as master.  I probably should of checked that.  It seems that this may have been a drive from this machine though, this is a second hand machine however.  I do have a driver for the harddrive, thing is that I dont know how to run it.

      Hard drives don't require drivers...
But that addon IDE card will.
Make sure it's for the flavor of Windows you're currently running....

my username is Gin here.  I'm refering to the fact that this unit is older then I am when you have to set everything useing jumpers.  I wouldnt make declerations like that patio.

Good then I hope there isnt any more confusion.  Cause surely if you guys looked at my IP Address you'd probably see the two are differnt.  From say this Squall user.

What makes you think Squall was a username here? And if it weren't you, why would you care? Do yourself a favor and let it go.
