my surround sound does not work

hi folks i need some help here plz ive been at this for a month with no luck

ive got logitech x 530 speakers and cmedia 5.1 surround sound card(CMI8738) installed. ive updated all drivers etc
only the 2 front speakers work
when i enter the cmedia control panel and activate the other speakers all audio plays slowwwwwwww and only on the same 2 front speakers, the back and centre speakers do not play at all
can someone help me plz

Did the speakers ever work properly? If so, what is different from when they did (new hw, sw, virus, error, etc)? Or is this a new installation?

speakers are new but they do work on my tv and dvd player all 5 of them work fine
but once connected to pc only the front two work
both sound card and speakers are new..i bought them together and since then ive never gotten surround sound on my pc

You downloaded and installed the correct driver from here?: http://www.cmedia.com.tw/EN/DownloadCenter_Detail.aspx?pserno=0&dtype=ALL

And forgive a silly question, but you are plugging in the speakers to the correct port on the card, yes?

yes all ports and cords are plugged in correctly and yes ive got all drivers installed properly
its all color coded so i dont think i went wrong anywhere

The part about the audio sounding "slow" when you use the control panel is the odd part. Let's try one thing please. Since it's XP, you can do a clean boot by doing the following: Reboot the system. As soon as you see the Welcome screen hold down the LEFT CTRL key on the keyboard. Keep holding it down until the desktop finishes loading (nothing should load except your Anti Virus utility - please confirm that's what happens). Now try the Audio Control Panel. What happens?

things loaded up as usual when i pressed left ctrl on the welcome note

Okay. Then go to START  - RUN and open msconfig. On the General Tab choose "selective startup" and uncheck "load startup items". Reboot and try the audio control panel.

ok i did that but i went on the audio control panel and engaged the other speakers and it still plays slow and choppy

Okay, you can reboot back to normal mode. What are your system specs?

intel pentium dual core E5200 @ 2.50 GHZ
2.87 Gb ram
nvidia geforce 9500 gt
and i dont kno wat kinda mother board ive got but it does have onboard sound but i disabled it

Okay, I'm sorry but anything else I do with you would be pure guesswork on my part and I'd rather not do that. There are a number of folks here who are a lot better with hardware than I am (I'm stronger on the software side). I'd suggest waiting until one of them responds. Hopefully the posts above will give them a starting point.

Does your motherboard have on-board audio? I've seen this sort of thing ("slower" playback. crackling, etc) when there are two cards installed on some PCs.
