i am trying to install a scanner and get  message that "class installer has denied request to install" what does this mean and how do i fix it?

Is the Windows Image Acquisition service enabled?

You can check if it is by doing the following:

1. Start
2. Run
3. Services.msc
4. Windows Image acquisition.

It should be set to manual.

Are you the administrator, or do you have administrator privileges?

Also be certain that the latest Windows XP updates are installed.
